As the only publicly funded college in Nova Scotia, NSCC has a mandate to have a fully comprehensive suite of programming to service all sectors of critical importance to the province.  NSCC is a leader in applied education and is a vibrant post-secondary educational institution committed to building the economy and quality of life within Nova Scotia. The College offers over 130 Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma (Graduate Certificates as well) programs in five academic schools that reflect labour market needs. NSCC has over 2,000 employees, eighteen campuses and learning centres, and boasts an enrollment of 10,800 students with an additional 15,000 part-time students in online, continuing education and apprenticeship programs. 

Additionally, the College’s Applied Research department undertakes research activities to address specific industry needs and provide students with an opportunity to engage in “real world” problem solving. Areas of focus for applied research include energy, engineered technologies, environment and agriculture, geomatics, and oceans.  Our deep connection with industry enables us to provide Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities for students in our core programs, and also positions us to be able to respond to, and anticipate the needs of our industry partners.
